Full of red and ripe black fruit aromas, accompanied of floral notes, oak perfectly integrated, creamy texture. Powerful (potent) and full bodied attack, with character and structure, leaves a pleasant and long finish.

The Bodega is located on a hill in the highest part of the town. It is a real balcony with views of the Ebro Valley and the Sierra de Cantabria, the Sierra of La Demanda and Ollauri and its vineyards. Its structure perfectly integrates with the landscape, following the traditional construction of the vineyards’ area that presides over the high part of Ollauri, a mound whose slopes have traditionally been used to excavate its characteristic depths. The architecture of the building has been conceived for a Bodega whose production system is the most avant-garde in La Rioja and one of the most advanced in the world. For this purpose, 80% of its surface is under the hill to make the most use of gravity for the reception and transport of the grape. Our commitment to quality and technology is maximum.
My name is José Agustín Marauri, Rioja birth and family tradition in the cultivation of the vine and cereal. I studied Agricultural Engineering from the Public University of Navarra and the Masters of Enology, Viticulture and Wine Marketing from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. My professional life has run in different wineries Wine Region, like Rioja, Navarra and Mancha. I’m working on Marqués de Terán from the first vintage back in 2005.
The working philosophy at the winery is very clear. We are in a prime area for growing Tempranillo within the DOC Rioja, soils surrounding the winery and the climatic conditions of the Rioja Alta, give rise to more fresh, elegant and complex Tempranillo. That is why our wines are based almost exclusively on this fantastic Tempranillo we cultivate with care.
Moreover, despite being one of the most traditional areas of Spain regarding the culture of grapes and making wine, we believe in using technology to make the best wines and moreover for our development process as sustainable as possible, we are pioneers in the use of geothermal energy to produce wines, trying to be as respectful as possible to the land that gives us the fruits that will result in our wines.
Marqués de Terán Cosecha Especial is the result of a manual selection of clusters and petioles followed by pre-fermentation cryomaceration in stainless steel tanks, with gentle blending and submerging cycles. This process is complemented with prolonged post-fermentation maceration to achieve a wine with full aromas of ripe red fruit and stone fruits. Its aromas of ripe fruit take us back to the typical aromas of harvest.
